I think the older BB basses are super pretty though, nearly pulled the trigger on a few used ones several times over the years.

Older BBs are solid as fuck and I really want one.

I have owned over the years, an RD250LC, an RD350LC and an RD500LC, all great bikes :)

I did have a soft spot for Yamaha basses too, at its worst I had 16 :)

They did make a 5 string version, but I never found one for sale - there were only 50 made IIRC.

I have this old telecaster-style Pacifica PAC402S that I got in high school that I still quite like. I recently had it setup in open D minor tuning to see if I could figure out how to write anything cool with that. I'd love to get my hands on whatever laminate they used to finish it originally, though. It lost a fight with a radiator many years ago and I really loved its original look.

I'd really like to get my hands on one of those Yamaha SGs to try out, they look like everything the Gibson SG should have been.

Pleaser reference http://ilovefuzz.com/viewtopic.php?f=188&t=57700 ...

I also have a revstar guitar. And a 2 Pacificas. Yamaha has awesome quality control and it puts out top-notch products. For entry level anything Yamaha is hard to beat. Their higher-end items are obviously great too ...

Ghost Hip wrote:Yamaha acoustic guitars are legit as fuck. From the beginner to the top of the line. I used to be a GC employee and its what we all pitched to beginners because they were super consistent in quality/finish/fit/etc.

Yamaha basses play and sound great. I think a lot of musicians get stuck in the aesthetic of classic basses that their favorite artists use, and the sleeker/modern look of Yamahas don't really appeal to them? Musicians have a hard time breaking away from what they are used to.

+10000 I always recommend yamaha for beginners ...

You can see the SG DNA in the "new" revstars ... except the pickguards are different and the Revstar is offset and I think the neck/headstock are bit more snazzy with the SG ...
