These GFS WRHB-like standard sized HBs might be on the brighter/aggressive side.

I believe I have a GFS Vintage 59. WRHBs are sick but if I was going that route I'd probably want full sized ones which would need extra routing. Normal hb sized ones would be ok I guess.

Really curious about firebirds and mini-hums though. Didn't even think of them.

I really dig the GFS Mean 90s. They are humbucker sized P90s and I haven't noticed any extra noise.
The Bareknuckle Supermassive 90 is rad as well and they come in P90 or Humbucker sizes.

Two awesome pickups, two completely different sides of the cost spectrum .

Just get some Gibson P90's. They're awesome as fuck. My LP Special P90 is an amazing sounding guitar, and became my number 1 for E std, drop D, and open D (thus my most played axe) within' minutes of me plugging it in. Kicked my Hagstrom Viking and Strat to the curb for about a year+ now.

Also, I play with fuzz, high gain, stack dirt pedals, etc..., and the noise is far from intrusive or overbearing.

Gibson p90s are, indeed, a good option. My only complaint is that they aren't RWRP, so they don't humcancel in the middle position.

I've thought about finding an LP special but all the ones I've seen were kinda trashy looking for $600. Seems like I'm just paying for the Gibson name.

I'm not sure if a Gibson P90 would work well with a Fender spaced guitar. Don't the pole spacings differ? I'd be building a jazzmaster most likely.

I've been looking more into firebird pickups and now I don't know if I should go p90 or firebird!!! Ugh! Or find a humbucker I like? I just don't know now.

Noiseless pickups are for tone wussies.
Golden era Gibson p90 is the GOAT.

when exactly was the "golden era?"

I just want a damn pickup that won't break my bank too hard and will handle enough gain without getting too muddy but still having some treble bite. God damn there's too many options out there.

50s-60s made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
But by no means are the 70s and early 80s versions junk

How do these sound compared to regular P-90s? Do they play nice with non-Lace pickups?

More lows, more highs, more clarity, zero hum.

From what I've read, they don't.
