I'm actually really looking forward to Gibson's 2015 lineup. I hope they keep some of the less expensive options without that dumb anniversary inlay.

Less models, less color options, G-Force (renamed min-e-tune) and a 30% price hike to top it off. Oh, and an awful les paul 100 signature script on the headstock of most everything.

Nice!
I find wraparounds comfy.
And the control cavity / pcb is great!

Thanks!

Yeah, I had never really spent much time with a wraparound bridge until this guitar. So far, I'm really digging it. It feels different from the typical Tune-o-matic and stop bar, and even a little different from "top-wrapping" a stop bar (which I have on another guitar).

Happy NGD! I like how it's thin, that finish, and P90s, not so much about the carved top and regular headstock. I liked the small headstock, IDK why. I kind of wish Gibson would reissue a melody maker bass, with single coils.

Thanks, mang!

I'm a total whore for a carved top. I never used to care about it until I got an Agile AL-2000 back in 2006. Since then, I'm ruined for flat guitars. I still love my Strat and Ibanez shredder, but I get a hard-on for vintage blues-lawyer carved tops.

Edit: and congrats on the Music Maker!
The finish looks cool and personally I'd like it to rub to a shine where I touch it.

I wonder about how deep the finish goes. The sprayed sunburst finish of the 20th century is an attempt to get the aesthetic of older French polished instruments where the finish has rubbed off with use, usually around central points of the instrument. The modern sunburst, then, is the outgrowth of one of the first "relic" fads in instruments, but obviously has gotten away from wear. But what if you could buff out one of these with some special attention to some contact points?

Not that I'm buying a new Gibson before Henry J. is rotting in the ground, nice as this one seems to be.

A guy on the MyLesPaul forum buffed his MM to a nice shine. It's the "TV Yellow" color, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for the Midnight Manhattan as well. I'd like some more of the blue to shine through.

Here's the buffed TV Yellow Melody Maker:

Put some different knobs on it. Looks better I think.

I really love these "low end" Gibsons -- they're pretty high quality and relatively affordable. I was debating between one of these and an LPJ a year or so ago -- ended up going with the LPJ, and it's a really great guitar. I liked the PCB for its tidy-ness too, but in general wasn't a fan of the pickups/electronics and removed them all. But the guitar plays and looks great
