I'm a short scale guy these days.

Lots of common mentions but there are quite a few boutiques floating around at various price points.

I've got a Lefay Piccolo (30 inch) I lucked into on ebay awhile back $$$$

Landing makes some cool fender-esqe short scales w/various custom options. $$$

A little more rustic feel with Birdsong, but quality shorties. $$

A personal favorite: Rob Allen Mouse... $$$$
http://www.roballenguitars.com/mouse30.html

and of course there are a ton of Alembic shorts floating around $$$$$

Oh man, I like those Landing basses. I may look into getting one with a passive PJ set.

On the cheaper end of things, you can't beat the Gibson EB/SG basses. They do have some neck dive and a slightly tubby sound, but big and thick and they are so worth it.

That's funny, I've been lusting after an SG special pretty hard lately. I just need to play one before I fall in love too much.

Sell to me?

it isn't a small project ;) viewtopic.php?f=192&t=34872
Basically I'm at the point where I could stop and it could stay a bass… ATM I've only started fixing stuff and filled in the tuner holes, which could be unfilled… still if you REALLY want the thing I'd let it go for about what I got it for :idk:

haha nah. you've put too much work into it to just let it go.

I just want something with a bit more heft and balls than my squier jaguar.

The neck dive on the SG doesnt scare me. Nothing could be as bad as my jag. Ive considered putting weights on the bottom to balance it a bit.

I knew someone that used a big chain attached to the end of her strap :thumb:
really though If you want a SG bass get a old EB-O/EB-3 or Japanese lawsuit copy, the new gibson to me did not sound $800 better than the $200 epi version…

This looks promising. I'll have to replace the neck pickup. Anyone know anything about Univox basses?
