This is my beater:

Which I refinished to this:

It's still roughish, still my beater and #1.

Looks great.

Awh man. I forgot about this thread. Now I want a beater again. I don't even really play guitar that much anymore. But I have like all the parts to build one. I'm going to need to do that soon

Will do! I guess it's really not old. Just dirty  it's one of the black/chrome pick guard ones. Need to work on it this weekend.

I guess the closest thing I have to a beater is my newly "Bass VI'd" Tele

I've had that lil darling since I was 14, and I just put the neck on it a couple of days ago!

This was a Oly White VM Jag, stripped/repainted/modded to:

Got sick of dealing with the crappy neck this thing came with (little twist, bad frets).

So I stripped and repainted/XIIed with this Warmoth neck that was on clearance. The blocked cavity is starting to look a little funky and the paint has cracked around it. I measured the distance the bridge should be at incorrectly TWICE so having to drill/re-drill it for string thimbles have that part completely butchered under there.

That thing is crazy^ Nice work.

Here's the new squier (ignore the flash)

Everything on it seems good. Just a bit of gook on the frets and various other places, rusted screws, etc. The nut of course seems really cheap. Need to get different knobs (can't stand those typical metal type), and a vibrato arm once I figure out which one is correct ( :poke: ) .
Also, I'm going to refinish it...or sticker it. Haven't decided yet.
I have $48 in it as of now.

LOVE that diagonal pickup selector switch. Where'd you get that? Or did you make it?

And what's the story with the switching on the upper horn?

Its just a bootleg plate cut out of some kinda thin sheet steel with a dremel. I redid the wiring so its the Johnny Marr wiring with a 4 way. One of the top horn holes is just a hole, the other has a repurposed switch from the normal pickup switch it came with for the neck bright switch. Theres a Jag/Surf guitar guru named Dave Wronski that plays with the band the Slacktones and sells legit plates like that for the 3/4 way switch. I think it makes a little more sense than the horizontal Marr switch.
