Kunkle neck--needs a vintage tint.
How are you liking that neck? What did you have the seller do as far as frets, finish, etc? I really want a VI. I have a tele I cannot sell.
I love teles. I really want a VI. This option is looking better and better.
I dig it. The grain is very pretty & I had good results w/ frets. It's unfinished. I recommend Tru Oil for finishing. Rub it on with 000 fine steel wool; rub it off with a dry piece of 000 steel wool. The result is a sealed inconspicuous beautiful matte finish that feels like sanded. I've read that if you keep going it gets very glossy / sticky so stop after one coat.
I didn't give him instructions (didn't know that was an option). The feel is more old school--rounder, like a baseball bat, unlike Strat necks. Unless there's a strat neck that's hefty and round. I had to wait 2 or 3 weeks I don't recall but it's worth it. No complaints.
I would recommend getting more than one nut in case you screw it up like I did. It's playable but I took too much off, now have to replace it for it to be perfect. Also, I got grooved saddles because my bridge wasn't a drop in replacement, therefore 1mm off center. Grooved saddles resolved that.
I'm almost done with this one just have to replace drop cap & pots. Wiring will be: vol + tone, vol only, straight to jack. Flipped controls are bomb. edit: string spacing is closer than what I'm used to, and the thicker gauge LaBellas don't help.
