I have a Epiphone SG from the MIK run with the Maestro vibrola. i changed the bridge to a longer-travel Gotoh because the guitar wouldn't intonate fully with a stock TOM, and swapped the tone caps to silver-mica caps, .028 or .030 or something like that. other than that, all it's gotten is scratched.

if the pickups are decent, you can improve them enormously by swapping the bar magnets for Alnico 2 magnets, which makes them much sweeter when played clean. i've never been into locking tuners...i had them on one of my Strats and they didn't seem to offer any benefit over regular sealed tuners.

Changed to witch hat knobs and changed the tuners. But don't know what they're called.

Had one many moons ago and swapped the humbuckers for tele pickups using plastic surrounds. If nothing else it seemed to piss off both Fender and Gibson fanboys, so a bit of a win-win as far as I'm concerned!!

It sounded pretty cool actually, though I never got on with the shorter neck, and the bridge pickup didn't have *that* sound (probably due to it not have the correct bridge). Much nicer than the original pickups though IMHO. I'll try and find a picture, though they'll probably all be on some long lost hard drive in the darkest depths of the attic....

I've never owned an SG myself, but I did the wiring for an ex-friend of mine.

We took an SG Goth, stripped the pickups out, removed half the knobs, and wired an alumitone into the bridge position, then volume and tone. The neck cav stayed empty, and I think we put some stickers in there to give it angry eyes. Last I saw, he had carved a bunch of swirls into the paint, but I haven't seen him or that guitar in almost 2 years.
