Yay! Nice one, they just look so pretty! :thumb:

I couldn't bring myself to sell the Silvertone. It's just so sweet. So I just went for it and drilled right in the top and installed the Certano benders:

Looks like it's a keeper. Also, I put on a set of the Duesenberg lap steel strings. They are absolutely perfect. Just the right amount of tension and a very great tone. And here's a group shot with some of its new friends:

Good times! :joy:

Cool video HA! I find lapsteel is really fun with crazy FX in a way that regular guitar isn't (for me).

In an effort to rein in the absurdity (or at least situate it in reality) I'm getting my first lap steel lesson on Thursday!

I haven't had any formal music instruction since abandoning piano lessons when I was ten.

If you are having intonation issues try playing with a tuner on... until you can hear when you are off.. might help..

I've been dabbling a bit with lap steel for a couple of years, using an old Gibson BR-9 and a Harmony Roy H7 Roy Smeck model (gold foil 'pup era). I'm trying to incorporate them into "pretty music" as well as weirdo noise, and it's a lot of fun learning how to use 'em!

I did an online double-lap set for Delaweird on Christmas evening that's mostly weirdo stuff (some microtonal manipulations and lots of pedals), interspersed with a couple of familiar christmas tunes since the live-Twitch show thing was on christmas day. You can check it out on the Delaweird Twitch archives here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/854284650 There are lots of killer experimental music sets to check out on that page, too...

Starting to get a bit more deliberate about the combo and routing of pedals... hopefully on the path to unleashing the "shitty lanois" vibes.

Jus' gonna keep spamming this thread! I found some lap steel sounds that struck me as being the opposite of Western Swing music (hence the title) even if I accidentally occasionally run against some familiar melodic fragments.

Settled on a pedal layout, as expounded in the setup thread.
