If Fender wants to go off the beaten path, why don't they make a Jaguar with Jaguar pickups? :idk:

I still don't understand the argument that because it has "Jag" in the name it should have such and such tremolo and have switches. How about you ... i don't know... GO BUY A JAGUAR. This is a Jaguarillo. NOT A JAGUAR. It is not hip to your traditionalist jaguar bullshit. :thumb:

Agree, well, that and the simple fact that the Fender offset guitars were pretty much all ignored and laughed at for so long that traditionalism being applied to them is sort of funny to me still.

"What's that piece of shit" really was the summary of the market for so long, and it's partially because stock, the things aren't what people expect.

Now, I love me a good stock offset, but they're much more prone to significant improvements via mods than any Strat, LP, SG, or Tele I've ever played.

i don't really think they need "improving," but the short-scale guitars are really fertile beds for modification. to me, a shorter scale makes the differences between types of pickups more apparent. the Mustang Special in particular impresses me in the demo above. i note for the record the extent to which the guitar demos lean on bitonal shoegazey chords...they know where the market is for modified offsets.

The pickups in the Mustang Specials absolutely come alive when used with a lot of dirt. They're made for fuzz heavy 'gaze. Pity no trem :(

Can get the same pickups (Enforcers) without the covers in the Classic Player Jag HH (the one with trem, not the funky black no trem thing) and short scale, and yes, they are amazing.

Yea, it's where I first found them before the Pawn Shops came out, and why I've been tempted by a Mustang (even though I have one) even though for me, a lot of the Mustang sound is the resonance of the bridge on a stupidlight body.

Apparently PGS is getting the Jaguarillo in some time next week! Dunno about the other models, but that's a lot sooner than expected.

I keep hearing and believing that the Enforcers are really sweet, but I'm just saying that Jaguars with humbuckers far outnumber Jags with Jag pickups in Fender's lineup. I guess the Jagarillo has the advantage of being something a bit different. Then again, I frigging DESPISE sing-sing-hum guitars. Along with the mullet, that configuration should have been left in the 80's.

At least on the CP Jag HH, you get blendable coil-split (which is damn useful and nice to have) and the rest of the essential stuff. I could live without the kill switch, but the instrument has its own sound.

Well, that and it was the first Jag/JM ever to take a Roland synth pickup easily - can use both the LP mount for the actual pickup thanks to the TOM bridge, and the Strat/LP strap mounting position for the bulb.

And a Jag with that many options and switches and sounds is a wonder of wonders.

i've been crying for an affordable Jaguar with Jaguar PUs as much as anybody, GF...we're going to get the Squiers soon, and there's the CP Jaguars and the AVRIs. there's single-coils and HH versions. everybody can get what they want, and we're going to get to mod those Squiers till we're blue in the face. happy days are coming. soon everyone will be able to have their own $450 Johnny Marr Jaguar.
