My action is real low! It's pretty sweet! I normal stay in e standard tuning but the guitar I played last year was Kevin's normal 25.1 scale and it was tuned down to a standard! That aluminum neck gives serious bass response and clarity! The neck profile is a little thinner than I would prefer but I've gotten used to it real quick! If the profile was beefier the neck would probably be way too heavy.

Most of my guitars have the tune o matic bridge with stop piece but I've played bridges like this and palm muting isn't a problem. I couldn't see u not liking it either!

were his strings real floppy when you played it?

youre not the first person thats said they wish the neck was a little thicker or had a different profile. ive got small-ish hands, so it might be a big plus for me haha. ill probably talk to him more about bridges.

the strings were not floppy as the guy builds his own string sets from an on line dealer. my hands are sorta big, i have to wear the xl non-latex gloves at work, so i was shocked at how fast i got used to the skinny neck. what sort of bridge are you looking for/prefer?

I'm super tempted to get a bass with four strings and one pickup and just an input jack in an effort to have a bass I could not break.

barenaked strings or whatever it is? i keep forgetting to pick up a set from them. well ive played nothing but tune-o-matic style pretty much for 10 years. i should probably stop in guitar center and try some hardtail bridge guitars to see how i like it.

WANT SO GODDAMN HARD!

My only concern would be neck thickness. The couple I've played had super thin necks, just not my thing. I know there's options, maybe even custom specs for a generous upcharge, but I'd focus heavily on neck shape, radius, width, etc, etc before dropping that kinda cash to get exactly what I want. :thumb:

I played the wood hybrid and it was great. I'm not sure if it was my friend's setup or what but finding the aluminum sound required more tweaking than I expected. He had a lot of switches. However, the guitar sounded like butter always.

How's the payment work? What's the deposit and when do you give him the rest?

Friend of mine owns Series One Bass with single coil picups. All I can tell - if you can afford go for it.
