CHK CHK BOOM tips

Post by in2thegapagain85 »

Hey,

I've been trying the pedal with different combinations and haven't quite got it to do what I thought I could with it. Anyone have any tips for running it? Also, are people running it in the FX loop or just straight in?

Experimentation is the key. Having said that, I'm still in the same boat you are. What pedals are you using with it? Mostly I've tried distortion/fuzz pedals with varying degrees of success. I'm saving some cash for some delay/flange/chorus pedals because they are supposed to work well with the CHK CHK BOOM!!

Hopefully others will chime in with their own observations! ;)

Oh, and be sure to check out the other thread on this forum that answers your very question!

I find delays and chorus give best/easiest results.

I don't have one, but I do have a feedback loop pedal, and I would say to try anything that isn't a distortion/fuzz. They will just oscillate, which is cool, but that's generally all they do, some type of modulation effect or delay should do the trick. Also, I've heard that with a graphic eq pedal you can create pitched drones, as shown in the utter stutter vid.

this. as has been said before feedback loops are slippery lil guys. hard to say what will happen with ones setup as everyones is a bit different.

ive been tyrin to get my hands on a cheap multifx unit so i can have all ranges and arrays of fx at my hands in the loop.

i have an utter stutter and i'm having ok results with a tube vibe, but not really that great. my midfi clarinot however is f#%%ing amazing. awesome tones and playing with the volume knob on my guitar just couldnt be more fun. i put a pigtronix mothership through it as well which was very cool in its own right. havent had time to try others (distortions, pog2, etc...) but i'll post my results as soon as i do. really wish i could make clips... maybe i'll do a half assed digital camera clip or something...

Thanks for the tip. I eagerly await my cables so I can use it with my new Clari(not). It might be fun to see what happens when I stack it with the Superdelay as well.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

I understand that these kind of loops are unpredictable and that's part of the appeal, I guess I was expecting it to sort of act like the warp mode on a boss giga delay when you hold the pedal down and get a really washy sort of sound.

dude get one of those behringer multifx. they're like $30 on ebay.

i haven't tried it myself but i would think one could get something like at least 6 usable sounds feeding that thing back.

You should've seen me yesterday, my wife though I was mad. After having my CCB for like two weeks now at first I had some problems using it cause I put in several pedals at once in the loop. Turned out that was too tricky. None of them worked like they should've. I then put in only a delay, that was alright, but not as outstanding as I expected.
Yesterday i gave it a shot and stuck my Subdecay Prometheus in the loop - HOLY :omg: !
You get a synth! It makes the strangest stuff, if you put it into step mode it will play lines by itself. Pitch controllable with the guitars volume knob. At this point I was mad giggles.
So I was fired up and gave the Moog Ring Modulator a shot. Now that is outstandingly cool too! It needs some type of input, but I gave it the crackle of a cranked Mini Wolf CPU with a long cable and I was in Analog Synth heaven. So much fun to have with these combinations.

Now I wish I had more than one - or even better a Stutter - and run them through a mixer to hear both at once.

Here is a track recorded with the Moogerfooger in the loop.

I have a silly [for here] question.

With the feedback knob all the way off it works like a "normal' looper with a momentary right. I need a way to do bass drops with a octave and the CHK CHK BOOM seems to be what I might need.

So..
