Re: CHK CHK BOOM tips
Hmm but I might want to use the feedback loop with the octave and need it on the floor So what happens then with the feedback k'nob all the way down then no sound? I't been a few years since I used a FBL so I forget ... I think I'm going to have to dig out my barge and actually see what my MXR octave sounds like in a feedback loop then I might be able to decide on which CHK CHK BOOM to get...

Interesting, Interesting. Octave in a feedback loop = more sythny bigness inless you max it and then it just sounds like poo but as long as you stay out of the poo range of the feedback control ALL IS FUNKY
So looks like I'm ordering on in the next day or so.

Re: CHK CHK BOOM tips
I've had cool results using mine with my H20 chorus/delay pedal. I found a setting that adds a slight edge to the chorus - almost pushing it to sound like a phaser - with a heavier delay on it. What I'm probably going to do is pull the knob, so I can keep the setting. It's a really slippery slope before it goes completely haywire.

I was considering a looper to put my Moog Ringmod in because I don't always like what it's doing when off. Then I read this thread and saw the loop mute switch. This is going to be the coolest looper ever.

Re: CHK CHK BOOM tips
Very pleasantly surprised to receive this today after it was shipped on Monday, not bad for a cross Atlantic trip!
First thing I did was hook it up to the Moog Ring Modulator. It's a good thing Tom added today because that combination is very deserving of a as the Moog alone gives you a boatload of different sounds with the CHK CHK BOOM on. Going from Formula 1 racing to invading aliens it is beyond awesome. It's worth getting the Moog just for what it can do with a CCB. Going to try the rest of my pedals tomorrow, but just this combo is more than worth it.
I like the mute switch on it. Though it would be even better as a footswitch so you don't have to bend down to flip it.

Got mine from midi_in and it is too cool for skippin school... It really likes to stick it in my Gonkulator and DOD Grunge... The Ab-Synth goes all kindsa stupid with it and it's adds a weird heavy boost to the Finger print and Algal Bloom... Lovin this weird piece already, now I need more cheapo modulation pedals... Gonna try it with a Kaoss Pad later...

Turning the tone pot all the way "closed" and then messing with pickup switches is fun, with 4 switches I can make a stupid little melody

Re: CHK CHK BOOM tips
the way I like to use it is with some kind of fuzz or boost runing to the input of the CCB. with the pedal set to a boost over unity gain. you get a hot signal that can better cut through the feedback (gives the knob a more usable range) and the volume pot helps set the input impedance of the loop which can keep modulation effects from going too haywire (squeals and harsh 20Khz noise) I usually use my flanger as a siren of sorts and cut the lows from my signal with my fuzz which helps the guitar cut through for some reason... again fb loops are strange.
anyway listen to 3:52 in this song to see what I'm talking about. the whole loop for this portion is Gtr->DBA Super Sonic Fuzz Gun (gated mode)->CCB (CF7 in flanger mode)->Amp (same dirt that's been running through the whole song).
The track is Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics by my band Ideal Fathers. it's unmastered but it'll be okay.

Another strange thing that happens with fuzz infront of the ccb is that the signal going through the loop is affected by the fuzz BEFORE the loop. Electrical magic I tells ya.

Re: CHK CHK BOOM tips
I just got one of these myself. Been having the most luck with delays and ring mods, at least as far as creating good feedback loops
without an external input. Pretty fun and useful tool but I'm just starting to scratch the surface.
Also just came into a 3xfx Sidewinder and started messing around with running the Chk Chk Boom (with a loop in it already) into the 2nd
input of the Sidewinder and running the alternating signal option while doing some sort of feedback-y thing.
I think that's what I'm doing, not actually totally sure what I'm doing.
Uhhh, yup. That's what I got to say....

Was messing about this morning with the Sidewinder: output 2 > Chk Chk Boom input (loop in CCB was alternating a Pitch Pirate, various delays and Mooger Ring Mod), Chk Chk Boom output > Sidewinder input 1, Output 1 into mixer. Basically resulted in creepy bleeps and bloops and farts. Also, Did this same set-up and added a drum machine to the input 2 of the sidewinder. More farts and bleeps. Will try to post a video soon. Got to say the CCB works great as a weird accent instrument when doing non-guitar stuff. The addition of the Pitch Pirate into the mix is also rad.

Re: CHK CHK BOOM tips
Here's a quick, scrappy ass video of one configuration.
Grendel Drone Commander > Sidewinder input 1
Sidewinder output 2 > mixer (4 track)
Chk Chk Boom output > Sidewinder input 2
In the CCB loop:
Pitch Pirate > Micro Delay 3 >
Nothing real fancy just yet....
