Mudfuzz's meandering, ever changing project idea thread...
I'm gathering parts for a new project and I thought you guys would dig it much.
It will be a bass with a Musicmaster neck, Jaguar body, mustang pickup and a Rick bridge.

Re: New project thread: The Jagsang-master bass
I will have to say that this project comes from playing a mustang bass in a store, loving it but not wanting to pay the new price...
Oh and no it isn't going to have a one volume setup but a stacked pot with volume and tone. I did this on my last project the ergo-gear [in SYG thread] and really liked it.

Yeah I think it'll be cool, and easy to do other then a little routing and sanding that's it. I'm going to just do a oil finish which is again easy, and I like the look and feel of them. These "e-bay" projects are great for me, it keeps me making stuff but with out any big commitment of time

Are you going to keep the woodgrain finish? And what about a pickguard?

No paint, no pickguard, maybe; I'm going to try it without one first and see how I like it. I might put a racing stripe on it, but haven't made up my mind. I'm really getting this stripped down vibe in my mind.
And if I was to paint it I'd go green, but I'm not as I don't have the space to do it right now and I want that nice cuddly oil finish feel to the whole bass, I might even do a neck scrape to the neck...

Re: New project thread: The Jagsang-master bass
Neck is here! very nice! just one biggish ding. the FB is very nice, the neck wood is nice as well, much nicer then a lot of the new stuff I've been seeing of late. Heel is the same width as a fender guitar so it will "fit" in the new body [mostly. I wont be able to tell intill the body gets here but I might have to make the neck pocket longer, for balance reasons as well as I would rather not have to dill more holes on the neck, so the the neck pocket it adjusted to the neck and not the other way'round. I have a Neck pocket routing jig around here somewhere so it's no big deal to do this.

This looks like it will be an awesome build. Are you gonna clear-coat the body?
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

Yes, kind'a. I'm going to use tru-oil, it's what a lot of builders [EB for instance] use for finishes on necks and fretless finger boards. I've used tru-oil on about 5 or 6 instruments now, and like it very much.

Update yo!
Got body, it rocks.
Neck pocket IS under sized so I can re-rout it to fit the neck and have the screw holes line up
Here is a pict of what I have right now, no work has been done yet and I need to find a pickup. I trying to decide to go stock fender or Duncan.

Re: New project thread: The Jagsang-master bass
Turns out the duncans are the only choice. Duncan makes all the reissue pickups for Fender Japan
Nothing is going to happen with this intill I gets me that Workhorse from Devi though
Have to keeps funds where they are and all intill...
