AstroMalte wrote:Hi all! I really enjoy following this thread and it helped me a lot putting together my own TGD. But, I fucked up. Big time. I finished soldering everything and tried it out - it sounded really bad, only hiss and chopper sounds. I looked it over again and decided to re-solder the starve pot cables on the PCB since it looked like they overlaped. I made some stupid mistakes and the solder pad came off on both sides from no. 1 point and it looks like this now:
PCB_back_1500.jpg

I played around with the no.1 cable from the starve pot and if I just ground it or stick it to the tone pot point no.1 it works pretty damn good.
Does anyone know if this can be fixed or can I just ground it as I did?

Pretty sure that lug 1 was going to ground anyway, that's usually how its done. So just attach it to another ground spot, like you tried when it started working.

I see they offered to send you just a replacement pcb for a couple bucks as well, that's cool.

Not to mention, what looks like one of Dali's elephants for art.

Thanks! I just used the wiring diagram that came with it. It was a nice sparse little layout.

Good call Jero. It is a Dali elephant haha. I've always loved Dali's art and for some reason the elephants have always been my favorite image. I thought I'd try doing some rattlecan/stencil graphics on this build. I just left the paint a little rough around the edges when I peeled the stencil away cause I thought it looked cool.

Now Ima sprat that Soda Meiser!

Do the enclosures come pre-drilled, and could you put the tgd in the same enclosure as another circuit, like some type of boost?

The box I got was predrilled but you can get them not drilled. If you got a small SHO pcb (culturejam has good ones) or something you could definately fit it in with the TGD guts in a 1590BB.

The TGD is loud as fuck though. I think it's actually the loudest pedal I've ever heard.. I have found that my favorite pedal to stack with the TGD (so far at least) is the SHO running before the TGD. Using it not only to boost the TGD but just as a buffer that gives you more clarity and treble.

yeah, TGDs are mad loud. I got unity on like 9 o'clock when i had mine  sometimes i bumped into a Volume knob mid-gig, everyone hated me  and it only moved to around 10 o'clock

anyway i'm thinking about buying and building one, if only for the practice purposes. But i think i'd like to try it one more time anyway... but this thread kinda discouraged me  i'm a noob and this sounds like an easy build in means of EASY TO FUCK UP BIG TIME

Nah, I made mine one afternoon last weekend, no problems at all except I snapped one of the pots (but I had a spare anyway), it's a really easy kit to build.

DarkAxel, I can build this one, which means it is totally doable for you.

Just follow the directions and check things a million times before you solder it. lol.

There really aren't very many parts to this one.
