Ration Card - EP OUT TODAY! Fugazian Noise Rock

Postby neonblack » Mon Nov 12, 2018 6:43 pm

EDIT: I fucked up. Is there a way to move this to the music section?

I'm jumping on the self promotion train! I've been in a band for about a year and half now as lead singer/guitar We've played some shows and things are going well. We recorded 5 songs this past summer and are finally getting ready to release them to the world! It's going to be another month or two before we have the release together and all that, but I figured I'd give ILF a sneak peek.

Hopefully this link works for y'all. This is the first song on the EP. I'm really proud of this, and we're already making plenty of progress on writing a full length. There's a good chance some of these songs will be phased out of the lineup within the next year if we keep writing at this pace!

If anyone's curious, my setup for this was:

Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster with upgraded P90s-
Fairfield Accountant - Chank Green Ringer - DigiTech Digidelay - Strymon El Capistan - ss/bs Mini - Fairield Unpleasant Surprise

All into my Quilter 101 (which I will vouch for until I die). On this song it's basically just Accountant into Mini into Unpleasant Surprise the entire time.

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy this. If anyone is interested, we will have shirts and VINYL!!! in a couple months.

This is great! I love that angular little riff that repeats every little turnaround, and your voice suits this really well. Stoked to hear more! Keep on self-promoting because I don't want to miss it!

This is so badass dude. Really cool songwriting and you sing like a beast. Way to go. I just started using a quilter 101 too and im really happy with the lil guy. What settings you using on yours?

Thanks dude, I appreciate it!

I keep mine on the jazz setting with basically full treble and the bass cut at max. Seems weird to cut all the bass but I found that it actually seems to focus it on the lower mids a bit so it gets super punchy, then the jazz setting lets the most mids through in general. And it's kind of dark so I don't cut any treble. I keep the gain around 3 and I've never had to turn it past 1 or 2 o clock running through a 2x12. Plus it sounds good with every single dirt pedal I've tried with it.

Cutting bass on guitar does wonders. Took me forever to accept that.

Ha rad yeah thats pretty much how mine is set too. Jazz chanel, less bass cut but yeah. I used it with a band for the first time last weekend and had the volume maybe 1/3 of the way and it was pumping. Team quilter all the way. Anyway keep us updated when you drop more songs, looking forward to it.

Meant to ask—self recorded, or did y'all go the studio route? Curious what kind of setup y'all used if it was the former (and the latter too, of course... always wanna know about the lovely studio stuff I can't afford).

We recorded it in a friend's home studio, but it was a legit setup. We did the instruments live as a full band (with like 10 different mics around the room and each track isolated etc) then came back and punched in a couple kinda subtle overdubs and fixed a part I flubbed, then I did the vocals last and shredded my throat

I wish I knew more about the gear he used. We did it in 2 days with a tight schedule but we only planned on 4 songs and managed to knock out an extra one because we were powering along!

Also here's a Facebook video of one of our songs.

http://www.facebook.com/story.php?story ... 3542003756

This song isn't on the EP. It's the first song we wrote and I think the other guys want to drop it soon. I want to record it for something. I happen to think it's a bit of a banger

Nice, that makes sense! It sounds pro, but not too slick or anything. The drums caught my attention!
