I think it's ok. Those lyrics though :picard: but tbh, I'm like that with a ton of Metallica lyrics, so :idk:

Where's the gain? Those guitars sound twangy, which is weird for thrash. It should be saturated AF.

So this is Metallica's answer to Slayer's God Hates Us All or something? Meh.

These people need to retire. I'm sure Lars has a tennis match to play.

Yea except God Hates Us All still had some bad ass songs on it. This won't. LOL.

I'll post the yearbook pics of myself if I can locate a yearbook.

Good point. I just went with GHUA because I haven't really heard any of the Slayer stuff after that. Fuck, I'm getting old and bitter...

It's tough, because Kill 'Em all through the black album meant so much to me (SHUT UP, I'M OLD AND FROM THE STICKS, OK!?!?!?!!), and much of it still does (AGAIN, I'M OLD, WHATEVER), so I get my hopes up every time I hear there's a new one coming out. But yeah, this completely bums me out. It was the lyrics that really killed it dead in this one for me, though I wasn't really loving the riff either.

Sigh.

I'm in the same boat, but I think they've lost me for a while now. Tried to hang on. This song isn't bad (though the lyrics, ugh), but the new album is apparently an 80 minute double album, so there's plenty of time for them to go way worse.

Oh, they fully lost me at Load. But somehow, I keep hanging on... at least until the new album comes out and they lose me again.

I mean, other thrash bands have managed to hang on better... I saw Death Angel, Testament and Anthrax play a few years back and it was damn near transcendent for my inner 14-year old. I dunno. I'm usually willing to give bands lots of room to grow and evolve, but here... <sighs, shakes head> not so much.

Testament are fucking rad.
Still, and as an historic statement/permanent universal truth.

Relistened today...with a few seekbar jumps. Forward & back.
I agree the guitars sound canned. Less so the solo but everything else...weak. Not so much a weak riff as a meh riff.
The lyrics are laughably bad. I'm embarrassed for them.
I struggle to find something to compliment...but that is a pretty sweet sounding kick drum...which seems to be the focus of the mix.
So there's that.

The only Slayer album that really stands out is Undisputed Atttitude.

Slayer are the awesome version of ACDC, wherein every album may as well be the same album, but fuck it is an awesome album.
Slayer could just tour greatest hits shows and people would still show up in droves.

Which is funny because my favorite Slayer song is the single song in their catalog that doesn't have that sound.
