Also if we're adding in written quotes:
“When I grew up going to shows, I went to see bands that were in the shape we’re in, and they toured because they wanted to play gigs," Denardo said. "They didn’t make money on their tours. The reason we’re doing what we’re doing is because I saw those bands and they were really inspiring to me. When we play a show in Fargo and there’s four kids that like the gig, it’s the same spot that I was in in the suburbs of Chicago seeing a band, telling them after the show that I was really glad to see them. Did I ever expect to see them again? No, because they didn’t make very much money that night. That’s where we’re at, except we’ve been to Fargo four times.”

1-5 are good too, but I like when they talk about the songwriting process in this one

I really like the first minute, too. Financing your own shit is the way to go, etc.

Also I don't really like Converge that much but I fucking loved listening to those guys talk about Jane Doe:

Double also I've never listened to Nails before but those clips are rad.

Nails is rad. Especially the first album and the new one. I'm excited to watch that Jane Doe video when I have time. Similar sentiment about converge.

Hey I live in Fargo, and I've seen a ton of bands, like indie famous bands, with less than 10 people present, usually on weeknights. This is v accurate.

I kinda hate articles like that. :idk: Maybe not so much for what's being said (maybe though :idk: ), but for how it's being said.

:erm: I always find it kinda weird when people try to write about bands. :idk:

I mean not that I'm not sympathetic to pure art (and not to go all out mersh and shit), but bands needs to cultivate their own audience.

If, after ten years, a band can't manage to do that, they've got some problems.

You've got to know your audience too.

"It’s Tuesday in Atlanta, and the crowd at the bar seems more interested in burgers and beer than multi-layered noise music."

Why are they even playing at a bar like that?

Also, this quote kinda bothered me:

Growing “is not in the financial category of bands mentioned in the same breath with us because of our record label [Vice Records] or the publications doing press about us. There are people who are making quite a bit of money playing this kind of music, but it’s not us."

Not sure exactly what he's trying to say, but it still bothered me. Is he complaining? If he is, why doesn't he do something about it.

Also, why are they playing in Fargo when only four kids show up? It's a nice gesture, but just doesn't really make any sense. Yeah, I can understand if they're doing a cross-country tour and just need a gig on the way, but Fargo's kinda on the way to the middle of nowhere. It seems like they don't really understand the economics of touring.
