That was the best show I've ever been to, hands down.
Got to be right up at the front of the stage right in front of drum Brian. Caught one of his sticks during the show, thing was broke down the middle so I split it with a fellow first timer. Bass Brian disappeared after the show, but I got to say hi to Drum Brian and receive the SWEATIEST OF MAN HUGS from him as well as autographs and general chilling out. He is for sure cool peeps.
Show itself was pimp as fuck. First band was a local group, guitarist had played with Hella before, so you can imagine how insane that guy was. Sounded like a heavy Jazz Band. Liturgy was after them. Went into their set without listening to any of their material intentionally so I could be surprised. Dug it quite a bit, could see myself chilling out hard to them jams. Then Bolt came out and wrecked the place.
That crowd was something else, not so much a mosh as much as a sea of people. I fucking loved it. The band pushed their shit right up to the edge of the stage since they couldn't play on the floor, resulted in me holding on to Drum Brian's kick drum a lot to keep from getting crushed. Set was mostly Fantasy empire, The Metal East, Horsepower, Runaway Train, Colossus, Dead Cowboy, Ended with Snow White (and the seven dwarfs fans). Completely punishing and brutal and amazing all at once.
As for gear, Bass Brian has what looks like a black custom made bass that he uses, modeled after a MusicMan, single Humbucker. His effects set up was: Digitech Bass Whammy > Boss Octaver (It seems like he spams between these two the most) > Boss Bass Overdrive > Boss Super Overdrive > Boss Wah > DL4 > Amps. Drum Brian had a Boss Super Overdrive as well along with two DL4's, one for looping and one for straight delay. These were hooked up to a contact mic sewn into his mask. He was running these into a marshall cab through what looked like an EQ almost.
Gonna remember this one for a long time, gonna have to catch them again once they come back.
