Japanese bands

Postby Faldoe » Tue Dec 09, 2014 12:46 am

Recommend me some good bands from Japan, any genre.

Some bands I've already heard/know: Boris, Gallhammer, Toe, LITE - Lite and Toe are great but a little too pretty and clean for me. Mono, great band but I'm kind of over the post-rock stuff.

There is one band that is in the Concentration Face DVD by Hella, all girl band, I can't remember their name. They're cool. Melt Banana.

OSHIRIPENPENZU
ENDON
Coaltar of the Deepers
Marmalade Butcher
BOREDOMS
Otomo Yoshihide
Korekyojinn
Happy Family
Conti
Ruins / SAX RUINS / RUINS ALONE

Also if you like experimental folk music, Ichiko Aoba and Miyauchi Yuri are phenomenal.
I can give more recommendations if you're into noise or j-pop but otherwise I won't bother listing them all.
I like lite and toe but the music kind of bores me structurally after a while. Still cool bands. MONO are phenomenal live.
Im a total sucker for poppier stuff like tricot, haisuinonasa, chouchou merged syrups, ling tosite sigure etc though.
