Kaleidoloop returns with updates, after a long absence. Retail is $375. Unfortunately, they've been too busy at the poetry slams to cut a fresh demo of all the new modes. :idk:

The Kaleidoloop features six playback modes, a record button, and track navigation buttons. While compact in design, these controls offer extensive capabilities.

Start with a fresh recording - use the microphone to capture anything from drums to acoustic guitar, the radio, to random ambient sounds in your home. The sound will begin playing in a loop. Use the playback mode button and the two playback controls to manipulate the sound. The Kaleidoloop ships with six playback modes: three speed manipulation modes, and three effects.

The playback modes are coded in Pure Data. Users can create their own modes or upload modes shared with the community. Modes utilize two control knobs. Craft new edits by adjusting the control knobs and/or selecting different playback modes.

Not surprised on the lack of mention of the uber expensive Epiphone 1963 Firebird 1 (single pickup, wrap-around tailpiece, $1,300) and Firebird V (dual pickup, Maestro vibrato and Tune-o-matic, $1,700). Despite vintage correct multi-layer neck-thru construction and cool vintagey custom colors, that’s kinda freaking pricey.

Flying under the radar, the similarly built 1964 Thunderbird bass is going for $849. That might even be a great value for Thunderbird fans. I already have too many basses for not really being a bassist, though.

you can get perfectly fine Epiphone Firebirds used for well less than that. someday i'll spot that 3-pickup model with the Vibrola, which is one of the few attainable electric guitars i actually want. i don't see ever spending $1700 on a modern Epiphone unless it's one of the Elitist archtops.

Walrus drops a $130 Ambient reverb for their Fundamental series--

https://www.walrusaudio.com/products/fu ... 6477770987

It has 3 algorithms and costs less than fifty tacos, so maybe something for people who want something more experimental and don't need a pricier, stereo-equipped option. :idk:

Deep (low octave)

Lush (ultra-long sustain for pads/soundscapes)

Haze (lo-fi reverb with distortion & sample rate reduction + bandpass tone control)

Trails Modes – The Reverb comes with trails mode active by default, to disengage trails mode hold down the bypass stomp switch when applying power to the pedal.

Vongon just dropped this at $900. If you can afford that, and you want something small and retro, this may be a useful tool. It takes a standard 9v, so you could possibly power it with a mobile power source. It looks bare in the initial pics, but it actually has white text over the cream base. Also, expect more features/sounds with future firmware updates.

Skimming the testers' comments, it seems like a fun tool if you want immediacy. It's not overly basic, but it's not going to overwhelm you with endless options either.

Lantern is dropping pedal #5 tomorrow. Fast-forwarding to 2:46, it's got a never-before-seen combination of 4/5/6/7/8/9/10/12 stages. I've owned 40+ phasers, and I've never seen so many odd-stage options.

I'll edit this post with more demos & info, when that becomes available on Friday.

I'd put the over/under at 3.5 months for someone making one of these for their shitty Reverb store at roughly £825.

Puremagnetik drops a new multi-tap plugin. Billed as a geometric delay console, its 14-tap interface relies on the Golden Ratio. You can manually access and edit individual taps, or you can randomize the whole interface. Each delay stage has a separate reverse function as well.

It's $9 with the PM Patreon club, or you can buy it with a Century Pass. The Century option gets you plugins for life with a one-time purchase (about 1 new device each month with free updates), and it's currently 50% off. ($199 from $399)

I've already downloaded Etappe and started using it to manipulate violins and plucks for ambient/cinematic/pseudo-modular patches. It's paired niceley with everything, but presently I'm going INSTRUMENT > ULTRATAP > ETAPPE > ETAPPE > ECHO CAT for really dreamy and diffused, cascading passages.

Ricorda by AC Noises is a granular delay/stereo reverb/freeze/looping device. If you like granular/haunting modulation/chirping phantoms, this might be your blueberry treat. :trippy:

Saturday, I lamented that Walrus has a stereo vibrato that I like a lot but no stereo tremolo, even after 2 revisions.
