I love the rack format and have moved through a lot of cheaper units:
DEP-5, SRV-2000, Quadraverb, Midiverb, Line 6 Echo Pro, and plenty more compressors and eq's etc as well as some Akai samplers.

TheY are all pretty decent, the roland's are a little noisy but I was able to get the best deteriorated VHS simulated sounds I've ever gotten with the DEP-5, atleast on guitar. I'd like to get another quadraverb, but it's better for electronic stuff the guitar imo.

I've enjoyed more than a few 19" synths as well: JV-880, FB-01, still have a TX81z.

It was piling up and I was having issues with small rack setups everywhere so I've tried limiting myself to my 24u rack and sold off all the excess.

My rack now consists of:
Eventide Orville
Eventide Eclipse
Kush Tweaker x2
Kush Electra
Motu 828es
Alesis Adat expander
Tx81z
Samson s-patch x2

I didn't get it. Even though it was 20 minutes away it was in a part of Jersey that is a pain in the ass to get to   I would have probably pulled the plug and got it today but it sold.

Actually, the whole Electrix Line (as others have pointed out) seem clutch. The EQ ones look ace. They were made for DJs so I'm wondering if you recorded a couple loops at different frequencies and us that to bring loops in and out. That would work? Right? I mean... again, DJS used that shit.

Oh I 100% understand this. For me most of the good deals are in Toronto, which is just a pain in the ass to deal with getting into the city. I tend to miss a ton of deals because of my low drive

^this.

It is elegant, simple. You know exactly what you're getting, how it fits, how it won't. No stupid velcro games, no power supply silliness.

Rack it up, plug it in, profit.

What sucks is that the good ones are either rare or stupidly expensive.

Rack mount stuff benefits from utility stuff like patchbays/etc.

In the early days of my pre-frontal lobotomy, I got fed up and sold stuff off because I was tired of the reach-around.

Nowadays I cannot imagine working in an environment that will not support literal floor to ceiling stacks of gear.

I would gladly have everything racked versus the pile of *some* pedals!

Should I ever do a signature "pedal" it's going to be a pair of my Test Patterns from Hell in a 19" box!
