pre-orders have finally opened for the OP-Z (about 20 months after it was initially announced...maybe longer)

https://www.perfectcircuitaudio.com/tee ... -op-z.html (thanks10 @ checkout gets you one for $539)

I was really interested in the vj aspects of it but have yet to see any videos showing that off, or really showing any reason at all why I'd need it to replace or add to the op-1. Kind of amazing that pre-orders are up after all this time and there is still not one legitimate walk-through video.

Some OPz thoughts-
Smart to go without a screen. The screen on the OP1 is from like a flip phone or something, and they are no longer produced, thus ending OP1 production (at some point)
I'm also way more interested in it's video powers than anything else, but seeing as it's less $$$ than the OP1... it's a lot more appealing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it had come out that the OP-Z didn't really have as much video function as initially hoped. Like it was mostly done through a third party app on your phone and they just connect somehow?

I love the OP-1 and would not want to give up the screen so I need to see a lot more OP-Z demos before I'm really interested. All of the beta testers make kinda lousy videos IMO. They suck all of the fun out of TE products, which is a big part of the selling point.

But it is pretty sweet that they added CV and gate outs, that could make it worth it for me to control my Euro setup too.

Might be wrong, but honestly it looks like an absolute nightmare to program? I'm sure you can do amazing stuff once you really learn the box, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort when there's other sequencers out there that don't cost $600?

Yeah, for that price you can get so much more with an iPad air, $350 for the iPad and the rest in apps.

Yeah, but you could say that about any hardware synth.

iPads don't have keys, buttons, knobs, etc. and the battery life on them isn't anywhere close to what I'm sure the OP-Z will be.
Not saying that alone is worth the extra $200 but it's just personal preference.

Guys who are buying hardware from Teenage Engineering probably aren't concerned about getting the lowest price option for synth production. The whole appeal is the format and having everything right at your fingertips with the tactile element.

I totally get that, which is why I'm confused by the OP-Z... sure, it has a ton of capabilities, but it seems like it's really difficult to actually access all of the parameters, and you have no way to see the parameter values without an apple product

New delay from Emma Electronic. Godlyke's demo, as ever, is kinda meh, but Emma stuff always sounds great and pretty unique in real life. Price point is $50-75 too high, though, imo.

Looks like Boss is adding the MT-2 and the Dimension C to the Waza series. I wonder how they'll change them. I wonder why they are doing the MT2 before the MH2. :idk:

The MT2 is in their top 3 selling pedals of all time. The HM2 probably isn't even in the top 25.

The Waza MT2 is hilarious, but I'm pretty happy about the Dim-C. :)*

Dimensions C and D! That is really a promising start. Hopefully the headroom has been substantially improved.

I gather the new Fromel Seraph Deluxe is based on the Dimension D with very good headroom for a pedal. Comparison will be interesting.

That's my main problem with my DC-2 as well! I'm eager to do a modification (actually that means removing a few components only) soon, which promises better headroom. I wanted to do that for years ... :whateva:
