Unfortunately re-purchasing most of the gear (particularly some of the synths and the Orange, but also some of the books) is not really a feasible option.

I moved from France to Japan almost 7 years ago now (damn, that went fast) and I arrived here with two big suitcases. I sent a few boxes of music stuff and shoes using a Japanese company, but that's it. I only used electronic instruments then and bought the rest here. I still have boxes full of books and CDs in a friend's attic... I have to do something about this one day :). I ripped all my CDs before moving, obviously. Moving far away is a good occasion to do some filtering on your stuff and see what you really want to have with you.

If I did that now though, I would want to keep my modular and my bass/guitar too, and a ton of other things (it'd be with a family so that's another deal) so I'd probably put most of this in one of these containers that gets sent by boat. When you're moving for a job companies usually take care of that and it's the least expensive way to do this (takes a few weeks/months to arrive though depending on distance).

Are you sure it's long term enough ? If so, consider the shipping by boat thing for the big items. If you send smaller boxes/packages, get proper insurance for it.

Modular-related : remove all your modules from the case and put them in wrapping material/boxes, much less chances of something getting broken that way. Selling the case and getting a new one might be easier than shipping the one you have, btw (unless it's like 3U).

I love you jwar, but if that give you the gripes, DO NOT move to Australia.
ALL of my shit (almost) has come from OS.
If not, interstate. Which is like shipping across the EU/States.
It's just something we factor in here.

I would be totally attached to an old OR120 as well DoS, but I reckon you could probably sell it for a profit and still afford to get Matamp to build you something rad (or find another one when you get to the Motherland).

Yeah if I didn't have a massive amount of personal musical history wrapped up in it I probably would.

Got no input on the international shipping but you should still make a trip to matamp so we can doom out and we can both buy matamps

Moving to the UK. There's a whole bunch of reasons, but mostly because I don't have a good reason not to (aside from shipping my gear, potentially. ) and they can't kick me out so I might as well./

Welcome soon! where abouts in the UK? The main reason im excited is that there will be another UK person to sell and buy in the FS/FT here.

in all seriousness though things arent as cheap here as they are in the US you have been warned, on the other hand there are pubs EVERYwhere if you like drinking and contrary to popular belief the beer isnt warm honest !
Im not back. Im just front

Containers is the way to go for people moving in between the French islands and mainland. Cheaper, safer.
Good deals: OsbornKT, Phantasmagorovich, UglyCasanova, DarkAxel, Skip, D.o.S, ColdBrightSunlight, Eivind August, Goroth

Thanks again for the email, Sam!

Did some hard thinking. You guys were right about getting rid of the stuff that isn't "to the grave" gear. Some cool swag in BST as a result.
