I've got an old bassmaster too...

The bees knees for me: Vintage Hiwatt 4x12 w/ fanes

Had more need for the money than for an awesome cab though, and it was annoyingly big and heavy.

So I loaded a jcm 800 cab with a pair of G12H30's and a pair of Vintage 30's. Don't really love the V30's on their own, but in my cab they sound great imo.
I'm not really an expert on cabs and speakers, I just know I like what I'm getting from my cab. I'm sure eminence or even wgs have excellent choices as well for plexi-esque rich sounding amp like the bassmaster. Don't think you can really go wrong with anything, it's totally up to personal taste/style. I guess I'd personally want to avoid greenbacks or similar speakers, I think the already really present highs/mids of the Traynor might get too piercing...:idk:

I like what it's coming out of 2 V30s in a sovtek cab. '70 YBA-1.

YBA-1A here (90watt). running through an orange 4x12 with two eminence private jacks, two warehouse reapers. also used to run it through an ampeg v4 cab (4x12 also), i think it had 2xcannabis rex/2x private jacks... you just can't lose!

i have an empty sunn 6x12 that i'm debating on what to use to fill it.

Sorry to hijack but at least slightly relevant. I'm looking at this and trying to figure out if I want to jump on it. I suspect it needs caps and a new power cable.

Seems like $100 to $150 less is about right, though.

I'm guessing the YT-15 would suit my bass VI pretty well.

I've got that exact same model. $850 is kinda steep imo, but probably worth it considering anything remotely similar (Bassman-esque premium vintage quality ptp mojo) would easily cost you more than $1K. Not 100% sure though, I have no idea how much that cab could be worth :idk:

Home for the holidays? Port Huron is still a big trek for you though. And agreed, price seems a little steep considering it probably hasn't been serviced outside those tubes.

It's an hour and a half or so from my folks. I was up last weekend and came again on Friday. Probably won't grab it this weekend.

I'll likely come through Grand Rapids tomorrow. I've got your number, so maybe I'll shoot you a text.

Gonna try to demo some guitar tracks before I leave.

Found another in Ann Arbor that I snagged yesterday for $400. At some point someone put a three prong power cable on it, and the caps were replaced. Haven't gotten to crank it yet because I don't have 8 ohm cab here, but I'm looking around.

This is going to be my VI rig. :omg:

Everything I read about these heads indicates that they like 8 ohms, but the transformers shouldn't have issues with a different impedance, i.e. 4 or 16.

Does this group concur?

I'm looking at something like this, as I think it would work well for my VI: https://reverb.com/item/4634850-fender- ... ate-1970-s

Yes to both.
I run mine at 8 ohm with no issues whatsoever.

That cab is sex!!

I've been running a 16 ohm cab with my YBA-1 since last September, without any issues.

Well, here's what I went with -- Ampeg B15-S. I quite like it. It's one of the flip-top cabs from the early 70s.
