Really? I haven't looked at the current prices, actually, I haven't seen any JC pop out in the local CL like some years ago... WTF

I'm not sure what really is to blame, but I can't really seem to hear Jazz Chorus' when I see bands use them live. I'm thinking specifically of the 77. Someone in town has one and whenever people use it at a local gig I can never hear them.

Cheapest one on the GC used site is $499.

The JC-50/55/60s are $299+.

Reverb's $400ish ones are all local pickup only.

Really? I mean, I see plenty of bands play with little combos that get it done just fine. idk. Maybe people just aren't really turning it up much

So did anyone end up trying out one in person and even buying one? Super curious.

I've always been found of JCs and I'd like to own one at some point. If my new project works out I'm gonna need a light and carry amp. Thinking Boss Katan 50 as UC said the clean was JC-ish, a mid size JC (such as the new 40 or an old 77). But this one has me thinking, it could be super cool and practical with such a small form factor. I'd love to hear the thoughts of someone who played it with a VI or bari.

Really need to hit the store and take a closer look, but I don't like trying gear in store.

I don't think I'd be happy with less than a 12 for that. :idk:

I know but I've heard in some demos of the 40 that it sounded super full and bassy, and quite fuller than a vintage JC120.

VI or Bari....you want at least the 40, and for even small gigs, I'd want a 12" as mentioned.

Yep. 12" is where it's at for the VI, but I have a main amp for that.

Will check them out at the store, I'll bring my own VI with me, whenever I find a moment for it. I'll report.

Trip to the store this morning and brought my own VI. Fell in love with the JC-40. It's everything I love about JCs. It's everything I loved about the JC-77 that was at the rehearsal space in Oslo and that we brought to the Vigeland cave during ILFEU. And even more. Because stereo inputs for my synth and samplers.

Was actually very surprised at the 22. It would be just the uttermost radical for a small apartment setup. Clearly couldn't handle the VI loud, but it did an okay job at lower volumes and at higher volumes with downtuned guitars.

So yeah, I've found my next amp. Now to save every drop of a cent for it. Might mean some flipping too come January. Make clear of the lesser used items.
