Holy Shit, Everyone Just Got Fucked On By Behringer

Postby psychic vampire. » Thu Jul 28, 2016 12:00 pm

Tried making this post the other day, but mobile browser lost it, so here we are. These videos have been dropping over the last week plus.
Analog, 12 voices, 2 oscillators per voice, stereo digital effects that can be chained at least 4 deep, sounds like FM/interesting modulation routing, apparently might have individually distinct LFOs per voice? I don't know if that was hearsay or actually from the horses mouth. Anyway. This thing is stupid. Lez talk.

They've held off on a proper demo for a while, I'll get excited when they properly show it off. Everyone was this hyped for timbre wolf before the first real demo, and then everyone abandoned ship.

This could be very cool, it could also be crap

Yea but that original Timbre Wolf demo is legendary in how bad it was.

I'm going to wait for details on this (mostly price) and I'm going to wait a few months to see how everything is holding up because Behringer and quality don't match in my head which might be true or just some lie the internet hammered into my head. I'll probably go test one out at a guitar center or some shit.

I kind of want a Timbre wolf because of how bad that demo sounded.

I was going to say though, i don't think anyone was hyped on the Timbre Wolf, even before the first demo. The reception to the Rhythm Wolf was legendarily bad, it could even track pitches correctly over a single octave; when the Timbre Wolf was announced looking like 4 Rhythm Wolf Voices stuffed in a box, people on the boards i looked at were pretty pissed.

That said, this was designed by the people from Midas under the Behringer name post buyout, along with Klark Teknik stuff, Behringer's build quality has greatly improved in some of their product lines, the reviews of the X32 and X18 (other Midas designed Behringer boxes) are all pretty positive, and this is going to be their flagship. I would hope they make it sound good and hold up over time, but in a world where the Timbre Wolf can happen after the Rhythm Wolf, I recognize the infinite possibilities of shit. I'm still excited because it will maybe continue to push a trend the Minilogue started of affordable analog polysynthns.

Tried to find the cut of the Timbre Wolf demo that was mixed in with the Kirby Dream World music.

And i probably wouldn't return the Minilogue yet, but depending on price Behringer could burst that bubble. It'll probably be a fair amount more expensive though. My big hope is that if it does the multitimbral thing, it gives you multiple outs.

Yeah, I'm not ready to return the minilogue YET. The two things that bother me about the minilogue after having played it for a while is the lack of strong, sonically rich, lead tones, and the lack of modulation routing options. This sounds like it fixes the first problem, and that modulation-routing matrix might fix my second complaint. Need a real demo to know anything for sure, though...

I played a Minilogue while fucking around in Japan and that filter was so weak sounding. Really glad I played one before buying it. Also the delay on the thing blows ass.

whuuut. The minilogue is totally awesome for playability and routing and a Korg filter(s?). Give me a Korg filter over any other filter any day.
I've only spent a little time with one but it completely blew my tits off, and I normally hate synths that involve any sort of menu diving, but the minilogue felt so intuitive i didn't have to dig for anything. None of these Behringer videos have done it for me so far sound-wise, same goes for the Maxibrute actually.

When these companies start bringing out contenders for Buchla products I'll jump for joy.

Didn't get fucked on, they can fuck off :p
5 clips and not 1 clear shot of what the thing actually looks like in its entirety.
Lack of proper demo not a problem but not a fan of this approach.

I'm skeptical, but those sounds were on point.

We'll see, nothing a 2 year warranty won't help smooth over.
