Isn't there a button on the 616 to disengage the buffer? There was on my Lofi V2.

AD-9 is my favourite slapback. So resonant and dark.

You are correct, however:

when I had the buffer on and activated the pedal, my clean signal was noticably brighter

When I had the buffer off and activated the pedal, my clean signal got noticably darker.

So no matter what the buffer fucked with my clean signal. I really like the character of the repeats, but the buffer business irked me enough to sell it.
