I don't know anything about the Zendrive but is that one of those "transparent" overdrives? I'm totally not into that sort of thing. My amp needs a little bit of flavor added to it.

Actually...If you don't need super high gain, a ruetz's rat might work great for you. Just imagine your buddy's Rat, with a little gain sacrifised for a little more low end. Such an easy diy job it's hardly even worth calling it a 'mod'. It'll take you longer to open and close up the enclosure than to clip that single reistor. A little toggle switch is probably the best way to go though. Don't bother messing with a pot, the range is so small it's not worth it.

Don't know about the rat's touch responsiveness or whatever, I always tought my Rats had plenty of dynamics :idk:

Hey I had the exact same problems you did with the OCD. I ended up replacing it with a EQD talons and I am happy. You may not be able to DIY it though.

I don't think a Talons is DIYable, but it is totally awesome, and can be very touch-responsive. Also, with control over bass/mids/treble AND presence, it's super flexible.

I suppose it might work, but I want to keep tonal variety in the band. Also I definitely don't think the Talons would be easily DIY-able.

How about a Way Huge Red Llama clone? I know a few peeps who have built 'em and love 'em, and there are definitely kits and schems out there. This is a demo of a production model, but a decent clone should be in this ballpark (I'd think).

I think the honey bee and the zendrive are more of what I'm looking for. The red llama sounds like it colors the tone a little bit but not in the way i want. Isn't it supposed to be tweed based?

I found more than a few zendrive clone kits. Even one where all you need to do is wire it up. Cheap, too.

Anyone know of any other cheap honey bee kits other than the fuzzdog one? Madbean used to have one I guess but it's discontinued I think?
