I actually pulled the trigger on a soothsayer and I must say its replaced my rat tail as my go to distortion, compared to the rat tail there's a bit more gain on tap!

Sweet!

Has anyone tried the Abominable Electronics DSOM Deluxe yet? It has LED clipping on a footswitch as a boost channel, as well as a clean blend, and a 'death' knob. Seems sweet?

After this thread i tried a big box reissue and a turbo rat which were cool but ultimately got an original '86 RAT on here which has slayed everything and is still my main/only dirt pedal.

I had one. I liked it at first, but after playing a few different rats, the DSOM is now my least favourite one. I just tried a stock rat 2 today, and I prefer that over it...

I just popped in to say screw Abominal because they compared their FZ-2 clone to a Klon

Their pedals seem cool aside from that.

Anyone stacking 2 Rats?

cool, thanks for preventing what would have potentially been a totally unnecessary purchase :thumb:
the stock rat 2 is pretty good IMO, definitely tinnier/thinner than the originals/big boxes /turbo etc but that can work to its advantage depending on context.

i love the rat i have now but i find myself wanting something dual channel, since i use it for a really low gain sound but am also more than happy to use it as a higher gain channel by cranking it more.

i only tried it once but it felt like the low end suck kinda multiplied too much :idk:
if stacking i would use something more 'open' sounding, mini works pretty cool, obviously muff is a popular pairing too. clean boost into a rat can usually coax gnarly sounds too.

Yeah, I don't want to shit on any builders, but its really not good in comparison to other rats. As I said, I liked it at first but it was one of the first rats I ever tried. But now that Ive played a few, its another story. The extra knobs on the deluxe version were either completely useless or made it sound even more awful. I admit its really well built and the aesthetics are super nice. I also had their HM-2 clone, it was not better than either my MIJ or MIT originals (ended up keeping those instead). Way more floor noise, and it didn't sound as rich or thick as the originals.

In other news I am picking up a 1997 USA Rat 2 with an LM 308 chip for about 100$ today :).

I dig stacking 2, but usually prefer to use a boost in front, or use the rat in front of something else.

My current dirt lineup is Klone>Turbo Rat>Fuck. So far so good, but I like the Rat so much I was curious as to how two together might sound.

I've also found stock Proco Rats to be the tastiest, the Rat Tail was cool but there's something about the simplicity of a stock rodent that makes it sing.

Dunn effects' upcoming Grand Deciever should be sick. Two stackable deceivers (v good rat) + more options. I'm hoping for a clean blend for me moog.

I just ordered the Little Bear Rat for 5$ US + Shipping (so like 24$ all together) based on your photo

I'm SO stoked on the new grand deceiver. Probably won't order one unless the Canadian dollar gets stronger, but it sounds like it'll be a winner.
