Question about midi control with dual moogs

Postby new05002 » Tue Oct 22, 2013 4:07 pm

I have 2 Moog MF 104m that I run in stereo and I am looking to see if a simple midi controller exists that can be used to sync and control the two units. For controls all I really need is a master on/off and some way to sync their delay times via the clock.

Wondering if anyone out there has any insight into this.

Disaster Area/DMC might be ALL over this. Especially something as simple as that!

yea that is one thought. I had one of their units for a timeline/mobius setup. I will check out their stuff to see if they have something compatible with Moog

If they don't have anything compatable I bet they would make you something. It'd look good for them to also have a Moog controller on top of the Strymon stuff!

I could inquire, the only issue is that I dont wanna drop super bank on it. I could possibly work towards building something but I lack expertise in digital I/O stuff

You need a drum machine or sequencer to send Midi Clock with dual Midi Outs or a Midi splitter...

i don't think on/off can be controlled via midi. it isn't mentioned in the manual. far as clock though all you need's a Y cable from whatever midi out you're sending them.

From the 104m manual

Seems the last one listed their should control the on/off

Stereo true bypass looper box (1 footswitch [4dpdt can do it I believe] that turns on and off two independent loops) then add a midi tap tempo board and a midi splitter, it will be 6 jacks 2 footswitches and 2 midi outs. Leave em both on and run them through the stereo loops and you can turn em both on and off with one footswitch, and use the tap tempo to sync them both. :thumb:

that seems like a metricfuckton of cable routing for what could be done with just 2 midi cables and a smarter microcontroller on a unit.

But it doesn't require much digital midi I/O knowledge to build and utilize.

i generally would prefer a more elegant solution then a brute force method.
