Got myself one of these for 200 boys...

Original Partridge iron and Mullard powervalves too.

Running it through an old 2x12 with Fane Pop 50s in. Sounds really nice. I think I prefer it to the Bassman 100 I just sold for £475 so I'm pretty happy with that trade. I think the circuit is Bassman-based but it's less scooped than the usual Fender sound. Got some serious welly too. Needs hot pickups and channel jumpering to break up with the volume dimed. Eats fuzz.

Not just treble...

Not just bass...

This baby's got treble AND bass!

Seriously, though, sweet score. I know nothing about Selmer amps, but if it matches your description, it should be a beast!

Underrated amp. Outstanding deal, especially with those old tubes.

5 tubes, and ss rectification, right? Take some pics! :summon:

Definitely underrated, which is great. These are the English Traynors I guess. The parts in this thing match a Plexi - mullard caps, piher resistors etc.. This one's all original and working fine except the volume pots need replacing. I'll do the filter caps too at some point. I've seen them go for £150 before. They're odd looking and no one famous used one but the sound is gorgeous. Lots of bass on the bass channel and the guitar channel has a big, harmonically rich, open chime even with the treble backed off. Perfect old workhorse for fuzz.

what do you think of good old Syd playing pink floyd?

I think the one on the picture is a treble 'n bass 50 MKIII. There is one around here for 450 €

Yeah, I know Syd played one but that one's got a valve rectifier I think and it has that vintage look that amp buyers like, keeping the price down on the plain jane sv.

Syd's was a MK II w/gz34 rectifier, a mostly British descendent of the Fender Bassman/RCA design, like Marshall's JTM-45/50/Park Plexi.
It sounds great with guitar or bass, and has its own distinct tone; a dirty overdrive ac50ish chime that stacks with fuzz to perfection...but with the glorious low mids of the aforementioned Marshalls.

It's also my #1...the Normal channel loves fuzz in a way that speaks to me...using only a few tubes:

For some real insanity, jumper the channels.
Just be careful when doing so and using a muff in front. The bottom end is overwhelming. Simply massive. :animal:

7.5/15 Ohm ??? :wha?:

dude selmer amps are great. the guitarist in one of my old bands had a 2x12 (i think a thunderbird?) and it sounded so so good.

It looks more like a dash in person, not a decimal point...but 7.5/15 kinda makes more sense (I think).

Also yeah, those Thunderbirds and Zodiacs are the shit....but if you want one today, expect prices to start at 3k and that's on the (really) low end :whoa:
In the past 18months I've seen a half dozen sell for closer to the 4-5k range.
