november is new amp month

Postby ryan summit » Tue Oct 09, 2012 10:40 am

im in the market for a new amp to create a badass stereo setup
as of now i have a randall commander iv(RG-120-410)
with an emperor 2x12
id like an amp that can not only handle low end
but actually enjoys it,without just bein a bass amp thats hooked up to a guitar
the most recent discussion about what im lookin to do is here viewtopic.php?f=149&t=28825
right now im usin a peavey tnt(130w?)
its the house bass amp at the space and its a pain in the ass
im lookin to spend under $500 for a combo or a bit more for cab and head
never owned a tube amp so if we can stick with SS id appreciate it
unless you wanna convince me
im not against it,just not sure youd care that much to waste the time
im really up for anything, but hate wasting time with junk

where i'm at right now is goin the older acoustic route.saw a band with a 6x10 cab the other night and was googoo.
a collection of heads uppers to look out for would be awesome
also i got into talkin with my holmes the other night about preamps
not sure thats what im lookin for,but i know almost nothing bout anything
thanks guys

huh….
heavy as i possibly can, with surf twang(and all noises in between)
get them both out different amps
i would want someone watching to have enjoyed a motherfucking rock & roll show
picture this…
david lee roth is onstage, but hes not there to sing
he showed up because he just found out i banged his wife
and his daughter…..at the same time
not illegaly, his daughter wanted this for her 18th birthday
in payment they gave me his ferrarri(its parked outside)
a spandex singlet and long blond toupee from 1984(im wearing them on stage)
and hes here to claim his due and propper
this is what i want to artistically convey to anyone paying attention
ive got davids part covered
i need to capture the sounds of him pulling my anus through my mouth

Older acoustic amps are the way to go. I played through one of those guitar/bass heads and it was loud and heavy as shit

If you want 15s for the low end be on the lookout for old Peavey cabs. Those black widow 15s are pretty sweet and they can be had cheap I remember seeing a 2x15 for something like $80 on craigslist not that long ago. Also old Peavey bass amps (Mark III or whatever) are definitely decent as well.

I have a pair of peavey black widow monitors, those are the heaviest pieces of equipment I have. probably just as heavy as my powered sub.....and yes I mean that in weight

if you can get past the tube thing, the Laney VC series combo amps with the low-frequency Celestion greenbacks are bottom-y enough that i practice bass through my VC30. a 30W tube amp is gobs louder than a similar wattage of solid-state amp,

BUY AN ACOUSTIC, without a doubt, choicest bass amp for the least dollars. I know there's mad Peavey love around here, but man, acoustic sounds so good.

I'll add to the acoustic love.

Or a concert bass.
