Hahaha. Very. I stopped needing to use dirt and EQ pedals because of how monstrous this amp sounds.

Thats so sick. I wanna get like a non-pro 2 sometimes but that is way too loud for me atm :(

Thanks! I feel that, it's a much cooler looking amp and a bit more simple in terms of controls than the II Pro. But being Non-MV and only single channel makes taming the volume without dirt pedals is much harder than with a vintage SVT where you can jumper the channels like a 4-input Marshall.

The fact that the II Pro has an input gain control, a tube drive control, and a master volume has made it the most ripping and tamable bass amp I've ever had. Except for the original Mother 200 which is setup the same way IIRC, input gain knob, drive knob, MV. Being able to stage your gain in a more natural way than just overloading your preamp from pedals gives you such a clear and punchy bass tone. Depends on the amp you're using though. Whoa, random tangent. lol

Edit: Here's an updated picture of the SVT in a 4U headbox made my Mission Engineering. It looks killer now.

(Once again giant iPhone 11 photo, you'll just wanna open it in a new tab)

That amp just looks epic. I cannot even imagine how loud a 6x6550s amp can get, like can you shoot down planes with it

Loud enough to rattle bones and shake the whole damn house/studio. Maybe? I'll point my 8x10 at the sky the next time a plane flies overhead departing from OAK and see what happens.

youre sane about the mv thing but i mean if i want an svt i want it to be an svt if you get me

also i recall not liking the drive knob models as much, its too trebly

Hahaha thanks. Ohhh I agree! If this SVT-II Pro wasn't only $150 out of pocket for me after a $300 trade I would have bought an SVT-VR (though my GC discount) or tracked down an original SVT-II. Nothing matches the tone of the a cranked non-MV SVT or V-4(B). But also this amp is more so for the bass players in both my bands to use on my backline so they get a tone that I know works with my guitar tone and can match my volume without fucking up their gain staging, which non-MV amps are oft to do when you hit a certain volume level and the tone changes with increased power amp distortion. Also I suppose they could just turn the master volume all the way up and it would react a lot more like a non-MV SVT. I should try that actually.

I had mixed feelings about the drive control at first. But after comparing how muddy my bass drive was in comparison. I opted to use the drive knob instead for my dirt. My bass players are agreeing with me that the tube drive is much crisper than their pedals. Though I guess I have always liked a somewhat trebly but rounded bass tone, when I use an Ampeg for bass I always have the bright switch on, bass control at 3 o'clock, mids a 1 o'clock (800Hz), treble at 5 o'clock (max setting) I let my cab bring the lows since it's a classic 70s SVT 810E cab. This is also know as the 'Acoustic 370' setting according to old Ampeg user manuals. Which is hilarious. Because they're making a jab at solid state being too bright but still saying if you want that tone. The amp can cop it lol.

You also just reminded me of pic resize too. It's been too long since I've used a message board lol

EVERYONE DOES! It's driving me nuts though! I need a knob from an old big box RAT, it's the same knob Ampeg uses on the original II Pros and SVT-Classic but for knurled shafts, not D-shafts. I think at one point the volume pot was replaced and instead of getting a D shaft pot. The tech used a regular knurled shaft. So I need a RAT knob lol. It's not OCD but goddamn does it bug me. I even had to replace the rack handles with ones that were the incorrect color but I think the silver handles ended up accenting the rest of the silver on the faceplate.

My rig for a concert with the improv collective I'm part of(we where 13 musicians playing this show).

Edit: thought this was the "setupoftheday"-thread, but I guess it works here as well.

The amp is a TC BAM200 and the cab is a unknown 112 which I suspect is an old PA-speaker.

Thanks! My Dad and I did the Beta Lead one but the VTM 120 came like that. Which is cool cuz the normal VTM headshell is mega heavy.
