My MBV Attempt =D

Post by DarrenDoo »

Really want a better way to capture the sound, but it's as close as I can get with what I've got.

I will totally cover the entire thing when I get a shot. Just got a job at Guitar Center! w00t! Better recordings to come! :thumb:

Nice! I never found a reverse setting I liked on the hardwire. So bonus point there!

You know what's interesting about the reverb on the reverse setting, is that it seems to have latency. Kinda weird getting used to it but you almost have to change chords or something sooner than when you actually need to. The more you increase the decay, the longer it takes to fully crescendo. I have the decay set to about half way. I really really enjoy this pedal even for other things. The gated setting is crazy, especially when you have a delay set in front of it. Sounds really cool.

I love trying to explain this guitar sound to people who have never heard it.

"Dude, is that a guitar?"

LOL! Thanks for watching, everyone! I know for sure that mic'ing up will sound totally different, that's why I'm giving credit to my shit piece web cam. And as far as the strumming goes, that's sort of what I was mentioning earlier about the latency on the reverse setting. You have to be faster than the pedal lol.

sounds cool, you've got the shoegazer look going as well :D

the closest i ever got to that guitar sound was actually without reverse reverb. just a loud amp, vibrato arm and a Fuzz Face (i think). i can't tell from the video how you're playing the chords but the best way i found was to play the voicings higher up on the neck with the d and g strings ringing open through the first two chords for that weird frequency modulation interference thing you hear on the record.

I'm not sure how I feel about MBV, but To Here Knows When is one of my favorite tones. Great job. Makes me wish my guitar had a tremolo.

Nice! High Five, BlackTop jazzy bro! Have you had troubles with the stock bridge? I just ended up swapping out mine.

Wait so what reverb is that? I've been thinking about getting one lately since I'm not using my Vox as much, and I'd be into something wild like that not just a little "colour." (brit spelling used for emphasis)
