Just finished getting a kit set up since I have space in the new place. The crash, ride, and some hardware is borrowed. I'm a terrible drummer but now it's time to get better.

Cool! What brand are the tom and bass? I like the square lugs. Also, good use of pole :thumb:

They're Eddie Ryan drums, found them on craigslist. I don't know much about drums but the price was right (cheap) and I was looking for a 24" kick.

It's tricky. Way harder than bowing a guitar. You use really sticky rosin, and have to use your ears a lot while bowing, since how much pressure or weight you apply will affect it. Too much and it can stop all of a sudden, but if you can get it really going, it gets a bit easier.

SICK. I've been feeling the urge to buy a gong for a while, but this gave it a major boost. But it's so damn expensive indeed!

Dunno, I got mine for about $220 on ebay, 22" across. Another 100 for the stand. When I look at local prices, it's almost double that. I'm no gong expert but when I compare the ebay one and the local ones, I can't see any workmanship differences. Both look nicely crafted solid hunks of metal!

It was a risky purchase, not knowing about the versatility of it, but those videos I posted pretty much sold me and made the half-price ebay one worth the try.

My Ludwig Epic Pro Beat kit, bought it earlier this year to have around for recording and rehearsal. I haven't picked up playing it myself that much, used to take drum lessons years ago, before I sold my last drum set. Only had a chance to record with them once so far, for a project that's still in progress, but I'm loving the sounds I got out of it. I want to start working on some solo recordings in the new year and actually use it myself, gotta start practicing again and knocking the rust off. Fellow ILFer Chillerthanmost playing on them here...

I was gonna get the Mahogany Burst color originally, that's what I ordered. Then the guy emailed me to let me know it was discontinued, but they had an "Olive Burst" ready to go. When I opened the box and looked at the shells I just went "Oh yeah...duh, that's the best thing". Green to black burst drums? No brainer, instant awesome.
