New Fender Modern Player series
Hey guys, saw these were just announced. They look pretty sick. Suppose to be the CP's little brother. I had trouble finding a good link. Will try to find a better one. Musician's friend led to a broken link. Starting at $399
Half Working MF link. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/marketing/promotionLanding.jsp?pageName=fender-modern-player

Hmm.
I think Tele basses are cool, but visually they feel weird to me. I wonder what the pickups are like...I already have two mudbuckers and it's great.
Nice to see some different pickup combinations for a change

Re: New Fender Modern Player series
I like the slightly different offset shape on the Marauder.
Very very tempted.
Will have to see what color options (if any at that price point) there are.
And sunburst is beloved by old men who think Bluefest in Chicago is worth the crowd. We must cater to them until they are dead, then burn huge pyres of Strats and Teles on their graves like the disco record destruction of the 70s.

Yeah, the Marauder is interesting.
Agreed on sunburst. I figure that if I'm dedicated enough to purchase a sunburst guitar then I've already settled on the fact that I'm gonna refinish it.

The idea of refinning a brand new guitar just don't do it for me, having someone else do it sure.. but... buying a new guitar to do all that work to it myself... ehhh... at that point I'd almost say "parts guitar" but you don't save anything.. you just think you do

I guess the marauder is the offical name of the "looks slightly like a mainstream guitar we have but slightly different" name

If you look at the original/custom shop marauders though, damn

it's like they went with Teisco's policy of "throw a million fucking switches on it for no reason".
"oh and what's the status on that phallic headstock design?"
Not digging that Jaguar at all

Ya the jag is disapointing. Marauder is definitely the strongest out of the 6 strings offered. They sure are using that Placid blue alot these days.

That Jaguar would look infinitely better if they gave it a side jack and moved the knobs down to where that ugly strat jack is now.

Couldn't agree more, with all of this. Here's another Marauder pic I saw recently. I really like it minus the ornate switching system. Also, I think Fano was inspired by that headstock (and everything else Fender), but I always thought his headstock design was fairly unique. Guess not. He did opt for a limper version of that phallic look at least...

Something really off about a Jag all bare like that.
I really like the Placid Blue but now that I have a guitar in that finish I wish they'd knock it off.

I do like the stripe. It might be cool if it was a matching headstock but the stripe was the same color as the pickguard or somethin'.

Yeah, that maurader is pretty interesting. What is that bridge pup?
Surprised nobody's mentioned the thinline. I don't like sunburst either, but that is HOTT.

Ya, the stripe on the headstock is really unique, I like it alot more than the full matching stocks.
