Whatever happened to the devi ever Console thing?

I'm really surprised Devi didn't come in here to defend herself if she's that offended. It doesn't seem like anyone said anything that bad about her/her business, and the people who don't like the concept likely didn't contribute and probably don't care whether or not the console ever gets made. At this point I could see people having some serious doubts about the project's completion, and people voicing those doubts shouldn't really be a surprise or anything to take offense over.

So, yeah... she's kindof a drama llama, but I still think this is a cool idea and stand behind my decision to put in money for a console III and a couple extra carts.

This band I know started a kickstarter for $1,000 to tour across the country. They made the goal, and did the tour.

It's all in how you use it,

I backed a band called It's not night: it's space and I think their kick starter was only for $5k or $6k. Something low like that. They did it to pay for recording an album and releasing a cd/vinyl. I got the vinyl. I think that was a fine use of kickstarter, it was basically a presale to fund the recording and making of physical copies. Using it to raise 6k for a non concurrent tour of one state is bullshit. Especially if people still had to pay to get into the shows.

I like kickstarter and have used it to back a few things, but I have been very careful of what I have backed. I have seen the stories of backing something and then never seeing anything. The biggest problem I see with kickstarter is that a lot of people who would normally would not make a product or run a business, use the system. This is cool in that a bunch of new things can be put out.

But it also means that a bunch of people who have no idea on how to do shit, promise a bunch and have no idea on how to actually accomplish it. Because when you get down to it a kickstarter is like a mini business and if you have no idea on how to manage a business then you are kinda screwing yourself before you even start. Not knowing how to estimate costs of material, lengths of time for development or construction, costs for testing, etc.

Small world--they're doing a weekend "tour" with a New England bands I really dig, Queen Elephantine.

But, yes, kickstarter does seem to have a bit of a catch 22 in the fact that the people who're pitching the ideas may be the last people you'd want to give money to as responsible businesspersons.

Again, that's not any different from private investment, but it's sometimes harder to pitch to a lot of people over the internet, and it's certainly harder to assuage people when things are running behind, etc.

That said, I still want a fucking disc echo.

As I said before, I like Kickstarter. It is a cool new way for people to present their ideas and get them done without needing a lot of traditional backing. It can let some people get stuff done who normally wouldn't be able to do so. I have also backed a few video games and one for a book.

I hope the console works out. I didn't back it since I couldn't see any practical use for it in my set up but otherwise I find it a cool idea.

I have failed.

Hey there,

First of all, to all of you, thank you for your patience and support.

I have failed.

I have mismanaged my money and time and I don't have the resources to finish the console.

This is what is going to happen :

1) The Console design documents, files, and information that have been done will be released to the public.

Half the budget of the Console kickstarter has been spent on actual Console design work, and the other half was mismanaged and end up getting eaten up by business and personal expenses over the course of the past two years.

I understand this is negligence on my part, and I intend on making it up to every single one of you. I know that this will mean I have lost trust in a number of my supporters and fans, and I don't expect to easily gain back that trust, but I'm going to work full time night and day as long as it takes to make it up to everyone.

The design information includes the Console I, II, and III base units, PCB's, cartridge pcb's, enclosure and related circuits. All of these are either completed or in the final stage of prototyping.

As I mentioned before, half the budget of the Console kickstarter was spent on the incredible design work by Ken Schurer of Infanem. I want to be very clear that Ken was in no way a part of the failure of this project. He was actually very close to finishing up the Console designs and if it had not been for my own mismanagement of time and money would have had it done a year ago.

2) The ownership of devi ever : fx is being handed over to another pedal company that will be revealed very shortly.

The past two years have proven that I am no longer capable of running a guitar pedal business properly. Between the failure of my ability to manage the Console project, the changing shape of the gear industry, and the most important thing imho : the fact I no longer have a passion for guitar gear… it is time that I move on. Fortunately I have found a pedal company who will be taking over devi ever : fx and are the kind of people I know will treat the brand and you guys with the respect you both deserve.

3) Everyone who contributed to the Console is going to get credit towards current devi ever : fx pedals or a refund, your choice.

I will be using money from subsequent royalties as well out of my own pocket to pay everyone who contributed to the Console project back, or hook you up with devi ever : fx pedals in return for your contribution to the Console. Once again, your choice. This is my burden to bear and I aim to have it cleared sooner than later.

Although I am selling the business, I am not making much money from the direct sale, so it will be through subsequent royalties, as well as money I make via a day job, and what money I have now to give job that will be put towards paying you all back, or getting you devi ever : fx pedals in return for your contribution.

Please understand that I am in the process of finding a new job and am spending a lot of time working on video game development as my new source of income, so when you see me online promoting things related to that field, it's so that I can make enough money to pay you all back in a timely manner, as well as have enough money for daily living expenses, feed my cats, etc.

I play some games and she is all over twitter on that now, but there's also stuff saying that she spent at least a good chunk of the money on herself. Is that true??
