Phantom Ring, Phantom Flower, Phantom Arcade

Postby Ice Ape » Fri Sep 04, 2015 11:39 pm

Two of my all time favorite Fuzzhugger demos are for a couple of kinda obscure pedals, the Phantom Ring ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYvPggYZrns ) and the Phantom Flower ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr_sYSYlTNE ). I love all the great diverse splatty crunchy fuzz and ring mod sounds the Phantom Ring gets in that demo. And in the Phantom flower clip not only does it show of a range of tastey aggressive fuzz sounds but also has a super cool cutting in and out effect with an LED blinking in time with the with the gating of the signal. I have watched these demos over and over and still am impressed. Both are super awesome, love them! Yes!!

So that brings me to the Phantom Arcade. My understanding is the Arcade is sort of all the Phantom pedals rolled into one, right? There are a bunch of Phantom Arcade demos out there that all sound great but in none of them do I hear the sweetness of the Ring or the gated staccato of the Flower. My question is can the Arcade accurately reproduce the Ring's tones and the Flower's gated sounds?

If it can I will need to get one. So many unique and evocative sounds...

Tom just kept rolling on the Phantoms... I have a Flower and it rules, I don't have an Arcade but I'm sure with the right settings and guitar vol it should be able to cop the same sounds... Those pedlols like to be first in the chain and are very sensitive to guitar vol and even tone to make 'em get wild...

He's busy but if you email Tom he'll prolly be able to make you something...

Also Shitari...

If I remember, I think the Flower was capable of doing things the Arcade wasn't. I really wanted that Flower and then it sold out.

The arcade should be able to do everything the ring does as it is a ring with an oscillation mode.
The flower was a little different and was an exclusive to prymaxe. I never got to play with a flower.

There was also a Phantom Seed; somehow related to the Flower.

Here we go, another time I made too many versions of something and confused everyone. ;) That was an early tendency of mine.

But really, I made very few of some of these.

- The Phantom Octave came first...glitchy, octavey single-knob fuzz (>60).
- The Phantom Ring expanded on that (Upper into Phantom Octave, both independently footswitchable). (>35)
- The Phantom Ring evolved (upgraded) into the Phantom Arcade.

Those were the main production versions. Even those numbers are low, really. Then, a couple limited runs:

- The Phantom Flower was a one-time limited run for Slymaxe (>10). It's the Phantom Octave with a couple extra controls, a rotary diode selector (neat for slight variations on the glitch effect, but not essential).
- The Phantom Seed...was an extremely limited-run (>5), slightly upgraded Phantom Octave. Based on the Flower's added controls, but smaller and ditching the extraneous diode selector. It allowed for control over glitching intensity, and added the possibility of some skipping glitch.

I currently add the Phantom circuit in the Sonic Shroom Supreme, and it features the added glitch control found in the Flower and Seed.

See, not THAT confusing, right???  :idk:

I thought that sounded familiar.
